Every day hackers attack people’s personal information. These hacks affect every aspect of people’s lives, from social security numbers to banking information.Keeping up with the latest safety technology online is a daunting task for most. But for parents with special needs kids, it may prove a losing battle.Until recently, that is.
Now, there is a new innovative product on the market. that promises to be a game changer. The CUJO smart internet security firewall can keep families safe online by protecting their devices from malware, viruses, and hacks.
Why CUJO is Important for Special Needs Families
Let me explain, why a device like the CUJO is so important for special needs families. Kids nowadays, those with autism including, spend a copious amount of hours online on a daily basis.
Many parents worry about their kids exposed to unsavory or harmful sites and rightly so. Moreover, hacking has become a growing issue in the past few years so guarding private information is a legitimate concern.
I confess, as hard as I try, I cannot watch my son with autism on the internet 24-hours a day. My son spends quite a bit of time online playing games and shopping. Over the years I have taught him about checking a site’s safety, but he frequently pays less attention when he is excited or in a hurry to order something. Though I do check the history on all the devices on a weekly basis, I worry about what information he may be giving out unknowingly. In my case, CUJO can help block sites that may be insecure before I even get to check on him.
Who created CUJO?
Well, the easy answer is a group of researchers and engineers. Among them, they have decades of experience in developing software to enhance internet security.
CUJO originally started as a highly successful campaign on the crowdfunding website of IndieGoGo. The concept was well received, and the creators not only managed to raise their intended goal but surpass it by a whopping 763%!
The CUJO Device
So naturally, when Best Buy offered me the opportunity to try out the product I leaped at the opportunity.
Off the bat, I admit I had three main concerns.
One was where to place it and the second was activating it. The third was -would it slow down our already super overcrowded wi-fi system?
The first issue was solved the minute I unboxed it. The CUJO device turned to be a white sleek deigned devive measuring only 4.875 x 4.875 x 5.75 inches. Because it was small, I managed to hide it behind my router. That way my son wouldn’t notice it and be tempted to play with it.
Next was setting it up. Armed with a cup of fresh java I figure this is bound to take a while. To my surprise, it took less than 10 minutes to set up and register.
Oh, and their customer service was excellent. Not only did I get a quick confirmation email that the device was registered, but then an agent called to ask if I needed any help.
I know, I know- a live agent!
So like I mentioned before I was concerned the device would slow our WiFi down. My son practically lives on Netflix and Youtube. Nope, it didn’t happen. The beauty of this device is that you don’t even know it is there. Think of it as your family’s personal guardian angel. You don’t see it, feel it, but it is there.
The first thing I love about CUJO is the ease of use.
I can control CUJO from my smartphone. It is both iOS and Android compatible through a very easy-to-use app. From the app on my phone, I can monitor the devices in my house, and receive notifications. .CUJO has parental controls that provide internet filter, social media monitoring, and even time limits if needed. So, now I can supervise my son’s surfing even when I am traveling.
After turning the app on that I was amazed to see how many potential hack attacks it prevented. It turns out this device can protect my business too. Considering I run my website from home this feature is very important to me. Any hack attack can paralyze my work for hours even days before it is fixed. So I was very excited to discover CUJO’s firewall service could protect my phones and laptop.
Overall, I am very impressed with CUJO.
Now, I can rest easy knowing that both my business and my family are safe. I loved the easy setup and the fact I get notifications if there’s any problem I need to know about.
As a person who travels extensively, I would love to see the CUJO creator team come up with an even smaller version to serve travelers. I always worry about the wifi safety in hotels and public spots so packing a device like that would be beneficial to so many.
