Intensive OT Time

We are doing a weeks worth of intensive OT with Heidi after school for an hour each day.

It took Heidi about an hour of intensive OT to calm down after a very wound up day.

Certainly seems like she has hit sensory overload and hopefully an intense week of calming sensory input will bring Heidi down to normal again.

Watching Heidi throughout today and she was like a wind up toy that was slowly wound and wound and wound throughout the day and at the end of school day she gets home and starts to unwind. Manically and crazily.

So we are working on more sensory breaks during the day to help Heidi unwind in shorter, more frequent, controlled bursts. Getting wound up so tight is not good and neither is the resulting explosion.

  • I think this work will really pay off. The work that you are doing after school is so good. The ideas that you are pushing is so good. Great job on this.

  • I think the research being done here is so good. You should be very happy what you are able to learn from this. I hope to see more of this in the future.
