Podcast Season 2 Episode 4: Anita Lesko

In this episode, I chat with Anita Lesko. Anita received a Masters of Science in Anesthesia from Columbia University and works full time as an anesthesiologist. She was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at the age of 50 and she runs an Asperger’s Support Group in her community. She is the author of “Asperger Syndrome: When Life Hands You Lemons, Make Lemonade.” She lives in Pensacola, Florida.

We begin the episode discussing her book, titled, “The Complete Guide to Autism & Healthcare: Advice for Medical Professionals and People on the Spectrum”.

There is soo much to learn on how we treat autistic individuals in a hospital environment, and this guide not only helps professionals, but also parents on preparing their children… well, for life.  Packed full of practical information, it’s really a must-read for everyone who is in the healthcare industry.

We also chat about her more recent book, titled, “Temple Grandin: The Stories I Tell My Friends.” Anita shares how she and Temple met and became good friends.  This book shows more about who Temple Grandin is beyond what we’ve seen in lectures, movies, and the public eye.

Hope you enjoy this episode:

I appreciate our guest, Anita Lesko for answering several questions and sharing her passion in helping healthcare professionals understand and care for their autistic patients.
