Why Is My Son Still Snoring After Removal of Adenoids?

The day I met Cheri Moore was a game changer for my family. I have four wonderful boys whom I homeschool. My oldest son had just started vision therapy. His neurorehabilitation optometrist noticed he struggled to listen, to follow directions, and seemed overwhelmed by the sounds in the office. Thus, he recommended we call Cheri Moore for support. I am so grateful I called Cheri. We had our first of many conversations over the phone. For the first time in years, my husband and I finally felt supported and heard. We were getting answers for things we saw in our son that certain doctors had just explained away.
Improving Sleep

Despite removal of our son’s adenoids, he was still sleeping with his mouth open, snoring, congested, and waking up during the night. Cheri supported us by sharing research and blogs, How to Shop Dairy Free on an Elimination Diet and 5 Surprising Reasons Hearing Loss Begins. All motivated us to figure out why he was still sleeping with his mouth open.
Part of the answers were environmental allergies and food-sensitivities. The food elimination log confirmed an increase in undesirable behaviors when we added a certain food back into his meal plans. So good to know about A2 Milk, brown cow. There were improvements in his sleep with less snoring. But, there was one more reason Kevin was still snoring, but I am going to share that in his younger brother’s amazing story of “No More Absence Seizures.
Everything we did helped our son respond well to Auditory Integration Therapy (AIT). Cheri supported us with ideas for fun listening activities. He enjoyed AIT’s classical music! Within weeks, Kevin seemed more confident. His monotone speech was almost non-existent; I could finally hear how he felt. He understood directions more easily completing tasks with less help. Despite taking a two-month break from Spanish lesson, the teacher talked about how his pronunciation was the best it had ever been.

Supporting Emotional Health
Cheri supported our family’s emotional health in so many ways. Realizing all the information was very overwhelming, Cheri asked during our very first phone call if she could support me by helping me calm. Wow! Right over the phone. Not only did I calm, but she followed up with emotional learning resources to help our boys learn to express their emotional needs, stay calm. Invaluable were the emails with resources, information, and a recap of our conversation with resources greatly helping us make decisions. Before our second conversation, I filled out the Moore Auditory Visual Questionnaire. Now, I began to understand how to meet my son’s emotions and behaviors.
Supporting Learning
Cheri spent several phone calls sharing ways to teach my sons in ways that supported their emotional health. Since she had moved, Cheri connected me with a parent who was also homeschooling. Now learning is even more fun. The boys love the hands-on teaching ideas, typing lessons, and telling me stories which I type out. We now use Unifix Cubes for math and toys to learn grammar; perfect for my preschooler and young learners. I now understood how difficult it was for Kevin to listen when his brothers were playing or talking nearby. Cheri’s encouragement, guidance, and assisting us with Berard-based Auditory Integration Training has changed our lives for the better.
My family is so thankful for Cheri’s support and encouragement for me to listen to my Mommy’s instincts.
