I heard about this from the parent who started it.   The group is called Asheville Homeschooled Aspies.  You register through Meetup.com. Below is a description:
A.H.A. is for homeschooling families of highly functioning autistic children, otherwise known as Aspies who are homeschooled; but of course children who attend traditional school are also welcome, as are Neuro – typical children and siblings.I have found that homeschooling an Aspie is one niche that is under served and have found it a little challenging to develop a community with children in my son’s age group. He will be six this school year.
The group is open to all ages. We currently have things such as National Day of Puppetry,  Field Day, a theater production and LEAF Festival on the calendar.
