Unlocking Autism in individuals is the inspired goal of Kate Winslet, who narated a movie titled, "A Mother's Courage."
Last year she was awarded the 2011 Humanitarian Award for her efforts on a new foundation called The Golden Hat.
Here's a video of her explaining her foundation and it's goal
I had the chance to preview "The Sunshine Boy" - and I can see how it can inspire people to take action. The movie depicts a mothers journey to try to understand her son more. In the process I even understood Autism more... and my son as well.
I've been in touch with The Golden Hat Foundation and am excited to hear that they are moving forward rather well. I look forward to the upcoming book that is due to be released this April - to see all the individuals and high profile people who wear the Hat, and to read what they would say if it was their first words to speak.
We should all keep an eye out for this organization, as their services will be needed globally as our children grow up to be adults.
Here's their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Golden-Hat-Foundation/106208596108490
Of course their website is: http://goldenhatfoundation.org
