Encouraging Progress

Her pretend play and creative play has improved vastly.  She plays with her baby dolls and feeds them, covers them and kisses them.  She plays with her bunny, her best friend, making him draw and color with crayons, eat her snacks and run in the leaves. She can label things.  If she sees a car, she says, "car".  She calls anything round a "ball-ball"  She calls her grapes she eats for breakfast, "ball ball".  She calls balloons "ball ball".  She calls apples "bapples". Ava gets a little obsessed over things.  She will play a video clip over and over and make me sing with it.  When I stop, she cries.  But she wants my participation, which I think is engaging, but after imitating the baby chick on her Curious Buddies DVD for the 25th time in a row, it is a bit exhausting. She does not stim as much.  Her sensory issues have diminished to the point where they do not get in the way of her learning. She can sit in her therapy chair for about 45 minutes, which is amazing for a 2 year old. These are small steps.  But all of this is encouraging.
