What would the world be like without autism? There would be no Grace. Grace is my teen daughter whose work is being presented here to former NFL Hall-of-Famer and Miami Dolphin, Dan Marino by former Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Director Pat Levitt. The paint-and-stained glass piece presented was created when Grace was eight.

"What would the world be like without autism?"

To the outsider, it seems an innocent and fair enough question. But one of the grand things that have happened in the autism community in the last few years is a rising up of the individual autism voices to TALKBACK and SPEAK for themselves. I could go on about that, but, I'll let the voice of people who live with autism tell you what we'd all be missing without their diversity, talent, and genius. You can see them here: Link. I had the pleasure of consulting with the Dan Marino Foundation and my friend Jon Kent, Kent Creative, on AuTube and www.nomyths.org, which I highlighted here late last year.

Grace, here, 2003, age eight and grinning silly in front of her painting at The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center where it was shown at the Mayor's Annual Disabilities Awards Art Show and before VKC purchased it for Marino. Where would the world be without Grace? I'd hate to think. What have you learned about Autism?
