Unveiling a World of Understanding: Autisable’s New Bookshop Opens its Doors!

As a parent of an autistic child, the amount of information available to be sorted through can be incredibly overwhelming. Finding a book to address a specific topic, or even one that may be appropriate for my child could take hours of research – only to find that it doesn’t really help.  Often the noise of information clouds our ability to make a clear decision. It’s time to tear back the veil and announce the launch our bookshop.

This exciting addition to our platform provides a one-stop shop for in-depth information, captivating stories, and a powerful voice for the autism community.

In one centralized hub, Autisable’s Bookshop provides:

  • A Wealth of Knowledge: Dive into a curated collection of books written by autistic authors and autism experts. Gain valuable insights, explore different experiences, and discover practical strategies for navigating ASD.

  • Supporting Autistic Voices: We champion autistic writers by providing a platform to share their stories and perspectives. Through their own unique lens, autistic authors offer a deeper understanding of autism, fostering empathy and acceptance. Many author’s are members of Autisable. Having a section of our shop that highlights their specific books helps us to support their efforts even more.

  • Amplifying the Autism Community: Autisable’s Bookshop is a cornerstone in our mission to elevate the voices of autistic individuals, as well as professions and professionals. By showcasing a diverse range of narratives, we dismantle stereotypes and celebrate neurodiversity.

To test how we will implement promoting books that are in the bookshop, we published this post last week to promote Carly’s Voice:  https://autisable.com/2024/05/14/navigating-autism-a-journey-of-hope-and-discovery/

Exploring New Frontiers in Autism Literature

Autisable’s Bookshop isn’t just a repository of books; it’s a springboard for new discoveries. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or a parent on a journey of understanding, our curated selection offers something for everyone.

Imagine a world where:

  • Parents can find age-appropriate books to explain autism to their children, fostering empathy and understanding from a young age.
  • Educators can discover evidence-based resources to support autistic students in the classroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some commonly asked questions about the bookshop.

What types of books will I find in the Bookshop?

You’ll find a diverse selection of books, including memoirs, self-help guides, children’s books, and academic texts, all centered around autism spectrum disorder. You will also find many fiction titles written by autistic authors.

How can I get my book featured in the Bookshop?

Search the bookshop to see if the book is already available.  If it is, and not featured on our shop’s main page, leave us a comment so we can review it and see if it’d make a great addition to the shop’s main page!

Why Bookshop and not Amazon?

Our preference in using Bookshop is due to supporting local brick-and-mortar bookstores. Local stores provide the opportunity for autistic individuals, and the general public, to view – touch – and feel.  We love keeping things local wherever possible.

In terms of availability, what countries does the BookShop ship to?

United States and the United Kingdom. Bookshop handles all transactions, shipping and returns, and any customer service needs.

Can I still order via Amazon?
Of course you can.  Autisable just won’t benefit from that purchase.  The important part is that the authors and information is shared.

How much does Autisable receive if I purchase from the Bookshop?
10%.  This is at no cost to you as a consumer.
