The Family Friendly Sheraton Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv‘s crowded tourist beach promenade, The Sheraton Tel Aviv Hotel stands out in both quality and service. The location is perfect for beachgoers trying to decide which beach they should try next, or those adventurous enough to try the unique Tel Aviv water pool, the Gordon Swimming Pool.

Decor

The hotel’s decor in light colors and geometric lines aim only to encompass the city’s Mediterranean vibe and give the public areas an elegant and comfortable feel.

Most fellow travelers are business people, but that does not mean that the property doesn’t cater to families and special needs travelers as well.

Booking

I booked my stay on points, using the excellent Starwood Preferred Guest website for two nights. I did call the front desk and ask for a quiet, feather-free room.

Our Welcome

I was cordially greeted by the front desk staff and given a choice of points added to my account (250) or free Wi-Fi for the duration of my stay. Since the Wi-Fi fee was high, I chose to take the freebie Wi-Fi. I wholeheartedly appreciated the bellboy helping me with my carry-on to my room since I had traveled more than 28 hours to get to Tel Aviv. The Guest Room I was initially assigned a room with a view of the Mediterranean, but as I spent time inside, I realized there was no way I could get used to the city construction sounds coming from the outside (the city is renovating the promenade with construction going on at all hours of day and night.) The Sheraton Tel Aviv staff proceeded to send a most helpful bell boy to assist me to pack and change my room to a quieter one, incredibly fast. The next room I was given on the 20th floor (the top floor) was just what I needed to allow me to rest from my transatlantic flight from LAX to Tel Aviv. Decorated in dark wood tones, it had plenty of shelves for my clothes,  a well stocked mini bar (that I didn’t need to use since I had lounge privileges), and that Sweet Sleeper bed the Sheraton chain is so proud of. The room also featured a mini living room area with a desk, chair, sofa, and small table. For a complete comfort experience, the room had a huge TV and a Nespresso coffee single cup coffee maker. The room closet is nicely proportioned with a helpful chest of drawers to place any additional luggage items you may need to unpack.

The best surprise

The room safe is HUGE, which can be incredibly useful for families or bloggers sporting multiple electronics. The room comes with A/C, heating, and lighting controls in both English and Hebrew, and they are right by the bedside to make it easy to manipulate.

The bathroom

The modernized bathroom with a square sink featured the usual tub/shower combo that many traveling families may find very useful. The handheld showerhead is a bonus, but the shower curtain doesn’t prevent the bathroom from getting flooded. The Sheraton amenity kit is pretty much standardized across the board and includes soaps, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, slippers and the use of bathrobes. However, what some people don’t know is that the front desk is ready to replenish toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and even hair brushes upon request!

 Safety

The entrance door comes with a lock and latch placed at a higher level than most kids can reach. The room comes equipped with a balcony, which might be a concern for some parents; however, I was told that parents can request an extra safety lock to make sure their kids can’t open the balcony door! The Executive Lounge

Probably the number one asset of this hotel (except the pool that was being remodeled during my stay) is its executive lounge. Their lounge is one of the best stacked and the best service I’ve experienced in the last few years. The service is continuous and food plentiful – Israeli salads, appetizers, desserts, and several hot main course dishes. During Happy Hour, the staff puts out several juices, alcoholic beverages, and beers for guests to enjoy.

The breakfast

An Israeli breakfast is a true feast for the senses and the one offered at the Sheraton is no exception. Free for SPG members or those booking club rooms, the spread is fantastic, and the restaurant facing the beach front is an excellent choice to start the day. From white and yellow cheeses, multiple Israeli fresh made salads, to warm local favorites like shakshuka and bourekas, this is the place to start your morning. The elaborate buffet also offers a made-to-order omelet station, multiple bread choices, and a selection of juices to complement the meal. Not to be missed are the colorful cut up fruit and dried fruit section, completing the breakfast.

Other amenities

The hotel has a lovely kosher restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean, called the Olive Leaf that I have yet to try, as well as a famous spa called Cielo. Since their rooftop pool was closed for construction, the staff graciously offered me a free alternative coupon for Tel Aviv’s only sea salt outdoor swim pool, the Gordon Swimming Pool, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and highly recommend.

Service

The front desk staff acted very quickly when I complained about the noise in my room (due to city construction) and transferred me to a quieter room immediately. I had to contact housekeeping and ask them to replenish my towels, and again this was done in a very timely manner.Special thanks extended to  Estie Rreider, the property’s concierge who helped with great tips and suggestions. The Family Friendly Sheraton Tel Aviv lounge Autism travel tips Be sure to request a top floor facing the Mediterranean Sea – it is a bit quieter. With that said keep in mind that Tel Aviv is one of those noisy cities that is bustling 24/7. Bring your anti-slip mat or get one from the nearest ‘super pharm’ on Ben Yehuda Street that is just ten minutes away. Do your best to access the lounge since it will save you quite a bit of money and running around to procure snacks and drinks for your kid. If you can’t book a club room, ask the front desk about ways to upgrade your current booking with cash or points. https://youtu.be/3389SZHPpmM https://youtu.be/uAUAtj-PJq0 [mappress mapid=”47″]]]>
