Fireflies: @JubileeProject and @TaylorSwift13
I was surprised this past week when out of the blue AJ Raphael put me in touch with the guys at The Jubilee Project.
As it turns out they are wanting to spread Autism Awareness, but more importantly – understanding.
Of course not knowing who these guys are, I had to investigate. Plus, the aspect of people I don’t know producing a video to promote Autism Awareness and Understanding… well, let’s just say there have been some that portrayed autism in a very negative light and not received well.
After a conference call and several e-mails, along with seeing a preview of the video, I became incredibly encouraged.
In fact I’ve been waiting almost a week to share this video – as it’s simple in its concept. Here’s a quick description –
We often think that language is what makes us human – the ability to communicate our thoughts, to express our emotions, and to connect with others around us. But it is not merely words. It is the passing glance of a stranger, the earnest offering of a flower, and the knowing smile of a shared secret. In our latest short film, “Fireflies,” a young boy and his new autistic friend discover a shared language of their own.
Here’s the short film – “Fireflies”:
Does the concept of this video look familiar? Well, it was inspired by Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” music video.
The Jubilee Project wants to let Taylor Swift know that her music has inspired others in such a way that it is promoting #Autism Awareness.
If you’ve just seen the video, and are on Twitter – please take a moment to tweet a message at Taylor like this one:
