Losing Credibility – From @50Cent to @anncoulter

This past year we’ve seen some controversy going on with the word ‘Retard’.    From 50Cent, who has done so much for so many – to more recently with Ann Coulter and her remarks.

Whoever said that phrase ‘Sticks and stones may break my bones and words may never hurt me’ has never been bullied in school.

Name calling of any sort just makes the person who says those hurtful words and phrases sound rather ignorant.

What saddens me personally is that those who are using this word prefer to let this issue slide and continue to ignore the Special Needs community.

These people have a respectable fan base – they both are extremely talented in their field – and therefore is sad when they posses a level of influence that they fail to recognize and respect.

By not acknowledging even a portion of a fan base on such a serious issue shows me one thing – a loss of credibility.

Why now should we listen to 50Cent, when he doesn’t listen?   In that same regard why should we listen or read anything Ann Coulter has to say – when she doesn’t respond with respect.

One thing that I’ve grown to understand in this online world is the fact that some things can be blown out of preportion – and that there are always two sides to every coin.

That being said, what is disheartening here is the failure to recognize an entire community and their concerns.

I’ve personally reached out to both and requested any type of response.  Now I know in the grand scheme of things I’m a small fry on the internet – but I personally and privately reached out.

Any answer?   Nope.

Surprised?  Nope.

But, the opportunity will always remain open.    We always want to promote discussion – and obtain any type of interaction with anyone to discuss the issues.

I know they are busy, I know they have a lot going on…. and I understand my role and place….

But the lack of response is just a poor decision – and just shows a lack of credibility.

  • What exactly did Ann Coulter do? And she is pretty disrespectful to everyone outside of her audience so don’t feel too special.
