A Love Note Most Precious
He was diagnosed with ASD. He was 2, almost 3.
Take time to mourn the loss of a dream, I was told.
They said our son might never speak verbally.
They said he was probably retarded, and might never be able to accomplish many things, including writing.
Look what our sunny kid did today in his mainstream class, along with his peers.
And you know what else? He looked me right in the eye and gave me a huge bear hug when he gave this to me. My heart is singing.

Awesome!!!! I was told the same thing, about my oldest son, who is now 32. He is an amazing man!!! Can read and write, and looks after himself. Goes to the store by himself(bankcard, it works), checks my mail for me(we have a box). Makes his own meals, and they said he would never do that!!!! I love proving them wrong!!!!

Such a beautiful note! It brought tears to my eyes. I have a 5 year old grandson with Asperger’s. Autism and autistic spectrum issues are still not fully understood.

My grandson is 3 and has autism. I love him with all of my heart and soul. Thank you for posting that wonderful and sweet note…it warms my heart and gives me hope.
My son was diagnose severe asd nonverbal. ok I get it lol. Last year he made me a mothers day card and on his own wrote mom in the heart. <3 I can see it – most people would need it translated. That made my heart sing. I know how you feel momma!!!!! Keep the faith!

I’m so happy that you shared your son’s note!! My niece has a profoundly autistic daughter who goes to a special school. Her milestones and accomplishments often come later than other children, but the joy of each is just the same. She’s a gift and a wonder….
We should listen to the “experts” with one ear, because they want to help us. Remember, though…the “experts” tend to sound pessimistic (because they’re telling you that your child isn’t the same as all the other children – and they believe that somehow you might be overly disappointed at having a different child). They don’t realize that we look at our children with our hearts. As parents, we tend to get better results than the “experts” predict. It’s not their fault; no one can factor in the probability of success when love is involved.
We should listen to the “experts” with only one ear. The other ear should listen to your heart.
Enjoy and love and rejoice….It’s so wonderful and uplifting to hear the joy that your son’s note brings you! What a beautiful story to share!
