He needs to walk

Yesterday, I went to help my son, Brandon who experienced another grand mal seizure.   After he fell, he repeatedly hit his foot on a tile wall and badly bruised his toes and the top of his foot.  Of course, every part on his body is important, but his feet serve as his vehicle.  Without being able to walk, he starts to feel depressed.  He is used to walking everywhere and when he cannot, he feels stuck.  It is not a great place for him to be.  After I taped his toes together and applied several ice packs, he began to feel better.  He was able to wear shoes and go out walking, but very slowly.  Getting out of the house elevated his mood.

When Brandon says something hurts, it truly does, because he has a very high tolerance to pain. I move very quickly when I hear my son say, “Mom, I am in pain!”

I feel good when I can help Brandon feel better and he can continue on with his everyday life.  As a mom, I never know what I will be asked to do to help Brandon. I am always ready and willing, because I love him and he tries so hard to make it through each and every day.  He has succeeded by living on own for over twelve years now.  He has a winner’s mentality; he never gives up. I love learning from Brandon. He is a wonderful teacher.
